3/20/12 Update: Unfortunately Build My Rank has closed its doors for good due to Google deindexing its network. RIP Build My Rank. It was good while it lasted…
Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite link building services, Build My Rank. I’ve been using it as one of my main link building tools for the past 7 months now, and I’ve gotten some really nice results with it.
It offers a lot of unique features compared with other link building services so in this Build My Rank review, I’m going to give a brief overview of how it works, and then share some of the results I’ve gotten from using it.

How It Works
Build My Rank is a private blog network, consisting of blogs ranging from Page Rank 0 to Page Rank 6. You get backlinks by posting your own articles to the network. Articles need to be a minimum of 150 words long, and you can add one backlink with the anchor text of your choice for every 150 words in your article.
Each article you submit gets posted to one blog on the network. However, Build My Rank does some additional steps behind the scenes to get your posts indexed and ranking better.
First, an RSS feed is created for your article and submitted to a number of different RSS aggregators like Feedage and FeedAgg. Second, your article gets posted to a number of social bookmarking and Web 2.0 sites. According to the FAQ, you’ll get about 50 extra backlinks to each article.
All articles you submit are monitored to see if they are indexed by Google, and if they aren’t, Build My Rank will continue to build backlinks to your article to ensure that it does. From my dashboard, I can see that my Post indexing rate is in the high 90% range which is terrific for these types of links.
Build My Rank Benefits
- Strict Quality Control – All posts are manually verified before going live. Spun content will not be accepted, so you really need to write decent unique articles that are readable and make sense. While annoying to some, this is great for keeping the network free from spam and junk articles.
- Transparent – Most blog networks are pretty secretive. You have no idea where your articles are being posted to. Build My Rank is quite the opposite. You can easily locate where your posts are being published and Build My Rank shows you a nice breakdown of what PageRank sites your posts are on.
- Outsource Accounts – Most people will probably want to outsource their Build My Rank article submissions. So by creating an outsource account, you make it easy for your writers to login themselves and post articles without any intervention from you.
Build My Rank Cons
- Only Link To One Domain Per Post – When you write an article, you have to select one domain to use in that post. You can link to any page on that domain, but you can’t link to any of your other domains or even external sites.
- Only 5 Domains For Lowest Membership – New accounts are limited to 5 domains for the lowest $59/month membership.
Build My Ranks Results
I’ve been a member of Build My Rank since November, 2010, and I’ve already posted 784 into the system. Of course, the majority of these posts were outsourced, but I have written quite a few posts myself as well.
As you can see from my dashboard, about 95% of the posts are placed on PR1 to PR4 blogs.
Although Build My Rank allows you to submit short 150 word posts, I’ve had minimal success with these types of posts. Instead, I usually write posts at least 300 words long, which has given me better results.
Build My Rank Case Study
No Build My Rank review would be complete without a case study, so for the past couple of weeks I’ve setup an experiment with 3 different keywords on 3 different sites. I made sure to pick sites have not had any active backlinking done for at least 3 months.
Not a perfect test by any means, but hopefully good enough to show the effects of building links with BMR.
For each keyword, I wrote a daily 300 word article for 7 days. Each article included one link with the keyword as anchor text.
I began my test on June 1st, 2011 and ended June 18, 2011. I used Rank Tracker to keep track of the SERPs of each keyword.

As you can see, I did see positive movement from each of the keywords I tried to target. It will be interesting to see if the rankings continue to trend higher over the next couple of weeks.
Still, not too bad though with
just a handful of posts. Mix in some Build My Rank posts with other link building methods like I normally do, and I’m am pretty confident you will see some nice results with it.
Build My Rank vs Unique Article Wizard (and other blog networks)
As you can tell from this review, Build My Rank is quite a bit different from other popular link building blog networks like Unique Article Wizard and SEOLinkVine. The latter, require you to submit spun content and blast them to many sites on the network. This gives you the link diversity you need to rank higher, but in general your articles will be posted on lower quality sites.
With Build My Rank, you have to write your own unique content and it gets posted to a single high quality blog in the network. Both types of networks have their place when you’re trying to get high rankings, and I think they complement each other quite well.
Build My Rank vs Linkvana
A better comparison would be Build My Rank vs Linkvana and Blogging Underground. Out of the three, I like Build my Rank the best. Linkvana is just way more expensive at $147 a month, and I never really saw the results that I’ve gotten with BMR. Granted, I was only a Linkvana member for a couple of months, but it just never seemed worth it to me.
Blogging Underground is pretty good as it doesn’t have any url and domain limits. But I don’t like their interface as much and its blog network is much smaller (~400 blogs).
Build My Rank – Is It Worth It?
Build My Rank is one of the better link building services around, but it’s not for everyone. To get good results, you either have to consistently submit articles into the system, or be willing to outsource your submissions (which of course costs extra). There’s just not a lot of automation you can use with BMR.
But if you’re willing to put in the work, Build My Rank is of the best seo tools to add to your toolbox to boost your search engine rankings.
If you’d like to try Build My Rank out, they do have a free trial where you can get 10 free links. No credit card is required which makes it a no risk way to try out the system.
